MKP-3 are designed to eliminate magnetic blowing in the gap of welded edges of metal.
Magnets are placed on the jointed section so that the edge gap is between the magnet poles, in the middle, with its poles opposite to the poles of the magnetised parts. With the help of the magnetic blowing indicator, the section where the values of the magnetic field in the gap are from 0 to 20 Gs is determined. As the section is welded, the compensator is advanced in the direction of the weld being formed.
In case of insufficient compensation of the magnetic field, a second magnet must be placed; the distance between the magnets is adjusted according to the extent to which the deflection of the magnetic arc caused by the magnetisation of the edges to be welded can be compensated.
Structurally MKP-3 are U-shaped elements, in which rare-earth magnets are enclosed.
