Most Russian manufacturers on Tonzar accept MOQ from 1x20'GP container (roughly 80-120 units for case goods, 30-50 upholstered sofas), but for OEM/private label projects MOQ usually starts at 200-300 pcs per SKU. Pricing tiers are typically structured as 1-2 containers (base FOB), 3-5 containers (-3 to -5%), and 6+ containers (-7 to -10%). We can introduce you directly to suppliers willing to negotiate sample-buy programs for first-time US/UK accounts.
•What are realistic lead times and which ports do you ship from?
Production lead time is 30-45 days for stock-ready collections (beds, wardrobes, dining sets) and 45-70 days for custom upholstered furniture. FOB shipping is typically from St. Petersburg (Big Port) for European/US East Coast routes, and Novorossiysk for Mediterranean and Suez transit. For Asia-Pacific and US West Coast we route via Vladivostok or Vostochny. CIF Incoterms are available on request — most suppliers work with Maersk, MSC, and CMA CGM.
•Is your furniture CARB Phase 2 / TSCA Title VI compliant for the US market?
Yes — leading Russian manufacturers producing MDF, particleboard, and plywood case goods for export hold CARB P2 / EPA TSCA Title VI certificates, often via Egger or Kronospan substrate supply chains. For Prop 65 (California) compliance we provide test reports on lead, phthalates, and formaldehyde emissions. CPSIA-relevant tests are available for children's furniture (cribs, bunk beds, kids' wardrobes). Always request the specific product's compliance dossier before issuing PO.
•What about FSC certification and sustainable wood sourcing?
A growing share of Russian factories work with FSC-certified Siberian pine, Karelian birch, and oak — particularly producers in the Northwest Federal District (Vologda, Arkhangelsk, Karelia regions). Standard terms are TT 30% deposit / 70% against B/L copy. For repeat buyers, 20/80 or even 100% against B/L is negotiable. Letters of Credit (irrevocable, at-sight or 30 days) are accepted by most factories, typically issued via Sberbank, VTB, or Gazprombank correspondent networks. Due to sanctions complications, payment routing often goes through UAE (Emirates NBD), Turkey, or Hong Kong — we can advise on a working corridor per your jurisdiction.

Flat-pack packaging is standard for case goods — EPE foam corners, double-wall corrugate, assembly hardware in sealed PE bags, multi-language instructions (we support EN/ES/AR add-ons). Retail-ready barcode labeling and per-pallet UCC-128 is available for big-box retailers.
•What is the standard warranty and how are claims handled internationally?
Industry-standard warranty is 18-24 months on structure (frames, drawers, hinges) and 12 months on upholstery. Suppliers ship 1-2% spare parts (hinges, slides, plinths, fabric panels) free with each container. For larger claims, suppliers typically credit replacement parts on the next shipment or issue a credit note. We help mediate any warranty dispute in writing with the factory.
•How is container loading optimized — 20'GP vs 40'HQ?
For flat-pack case goods (wardrobes, beds, dressers) a 40'HQ typically loads 280-340 pcs depending on SKU mix; a 20'GP loads 110-150 pcs. For upholstered furniture (sofas, armchairs) volume is the constraint — a 40'HQ holds approximately 28-36 sofa sets in vacuum-compressed packaging where applicable. Suppliers provide CAD-based stowage plans before booking. Mixed-SKU loading is supported with detailed packing lists per master carton.
•Can your suppliers meet EN 1729 (UK), EN 14749, or BIFMA standards?
Yes — for office-residential crossover items (home desks, kids' study chairs) EN 1729-1/2 tested products are available. EN 14749 (kitchen and bathroom furniture safety) and EN 16121/16122 (non-domestic storage) testing is done through accredited labs (often SGS or TÜV Russia). BIFMA X5 series testing is available on request for residential home-office segments. ANSI/BIFMA reports take 4-6 weeks if not pre-existing.
