Satellite navigation equipment (hereinafter -ASN) is a set of devices installed on cargo and passenger vehicles of different categories and designed to determine the current location, direction of movement and speed of the vehicle on the signals of at least two valid global navigation satellite systems, data exchange with additional on-board equipment of the vehicle, as well as for information exchange via mobile radio telephony networks of GSM/UMTS standards, according to GOST 33472. The ANS is designed for operation as part of vehicles of category M, N.
Navigation data received by GNSS, as well as data from sensors (if any) of various systems and units of the vehicle, ANS forms a package of monitoring information and sends it to a special monitoring centre.
