Pressure tubes are receivers of total and static pressure. The principle of operation of pressure tubes is based on the measurement of dynamic pressure - the difference between the total and static pressures in the air (gas) flow.
Pressure tubes of Pitot cylindrical modification constructively represent two straight tubes of larger and smaller diameter, connected in such a way that the tube of smaller diameter is inside the tube of larger diameter. Full pressure is taken through a hole in the wall of the outer tube, static pressure is taken through a hole on the end of the inner tube.
Pressure tubes are designed to measure velocity and volume flow rate of air (gas) flow in combination with differential manometers or micromanometers in gas ducts and ventilation systems. They are produced in one version with measurement range of air (gas) flow velocity from 4 to 30 m/s.
