The shut-off valve is structurally designed as a valve, that is, its locking element moves parallel to the axis of the flow of the working medium. Like other types of stop valves, shut-off valves are used for complete closure of its cross-section, and therefore the flow of the working medium, that is, the locking element, which in the shut-off valve is most often a spool, in the process of operation is in the extreme positions of "open" or "closed".
