Reactors controlled single-phase arc-quenching reactors with oil cooling RUOM type are used in 6 or 10 kV electric networks with isolated neutral as grounding arc-quenching device and are designed for automatic compensation of capacitive earth fault currents, prevention of transitions of single-phase earth faults into short circuits of electric network. The use of reactors provides a threefold reduction in the number of earth faults and their complete localisation in case of insulation breakdown by overvoltage.

Reactors consist of an electromagnetic part and thyristor converter placed in a common oil-filled tank. Reactor regulation (current, power, inductance) is performed manually or automatically by means of SAMUR type reactor control system (supplied with the reactor).
