The optical cable contains a core in the form of a central tube, within which up to 48 single-mode or multi-mode optical fibres are arranged. The interior of the tube is filled with a hydrophobic compound or other water blocking material along its entire length.
The web of optical modules and cordel fillers is secured by a winding made of glass fibres, textile or polymer yarns or tapes. The core can be overlaid with an aramid or glass fibre wrap and an armour made of corrugated steel laminated tape.
On top of the armour there is a polymer sheath made of polyethylene or polymer compound not spreading combustion single or group laying
